ICFF in May

We are showing new work emerging from the Tools for Everyday Life project at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in May from the 14th- 17th.

The support we receive being part of the British European Design Group (BEDG) contingent at the ICFF has meant we have found both a receptive and enquiring audience for the work we do. This will be the 5th time we have taken a stand (booth) at the ICFF.

The booth will be designed and built by the current Designers in Residence to Northumbria University (Josh South, Will Baugh and James Benham).

Whilst providing opportunities for young designers (the residents) at the start of the careers to promote themselves and test their products at trade fairs, the Tools for Everyday Life also provides a vehicle for Northumbria staff to further develop their own designing and making practices, informing both how they teach and allowing them to articulate their view on how aspects of the material world could or should be.

The work for the Tools for Everyday Life promotes the ethos of BA(hons) 3D Design at Northumbria which is to encourage a materials and processes led approach to designing and making products that are rewarding ‘things’ to use.

Here are some images of things in the making, modelling, tinkering, polishing, and conceiving processes that are part and parcel of the creation of exciting new products.
