Yes, that’s right, we are once again taking a stand/ booth (no.1132) at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) from May 21-24. This time alongside new products from Northumbria University’s Designers in Residence the designers connected to Tools for Everyday Life project have taken the opportunity to design Bar Stools.
The Bar Stool stands in its environment waiting to serve be that as a perch for a 10 minutes whilst the rain clears or offering longer term support for a substantial drink. It stands, with others of its kind in front of the bar where the skills, rituals and demeanour of the barkeep are showcased whilst customers enjoy/console themselves and possibly others.
“I like bars just after they open for the evening. When the air inside is still cool and clean and everything is shiny and the barkeep is giving himself that last look in the mirror to see if his tie is straight and his hair is smooth. I like the neat bottles on the bar back and the lovely shining glasses and the anticipation. I like to watch the man mix the first one of the evening and put it down on a crisp mat and put the little folded napkin beside it. I like to taste it slowly. The first quiet drink of the evening in a quiet bar—that’s wonderful.”
