Bar Stools

Project Overview
This project sees the Tools for Everyday Life designers tackling the designing and making of a bar stool. The research for this project has been tough (extensive field work) but worthwhile and has informed a variety of approaches reflecting not just the designers’ individual sensibilities, but also the massive variety of establishments that have as their focal point a countertop (a bar) behind which drinks are prepared and from where Barkeeps/tenders serve the results of their skill.
Whilst some bars provide carefully contrived/ designed experiences others have atmospheres acquired over many years reflecting the personalities of staff and patrons alike. Bars, pubs, saloons, taverns and/or clubs are a big part in many peoples’ everyday lives. They are shared places to meet friends, drown sorrows, reflect and celebrate. They can act as a break from work and sometimes home.
