The project required designers to  study a particular product in detail (the pencil), understand its potential and celebrate what it allows people to do. It was an opportunity to design a product for an unsung hero of a thing.

The pencil is a humble, unassuming tool that goes largely unnoticed in the broader landscape of our lives. Such ubiquitous objects are taken for granted even though they serve us well, be that in the functional tasks they allow us to carry out or the pleasurable activities they facilitate.
